Parking

We have limited car parking spaces at the hotel which is on a first come first served basis. Parking is charged at £15 per night. If car parking is not available at the hotel please visit Henley town council for offsite parking.

Please note you are welcome to use the hotel guest drop-off area next to reception to unload and reload bags on arrival and departure if required.

The History of Brakspear Brewery

Hotel du Vin Henley‑on‑Thames stands on the former site of the historic Brakspear Brewery, a presence in Henley since the early 18th century. Brewing began on Bell Street before moving to New Street in 1812, where Brakspear produced beer for nearly two centuries.

The brewery became renowned for its traditional double‑drop fermentation, a method that helped shape the distinct character of Brakspear ales. Its iconic bee emblem reflects a remarkable family link to Pope Adrian IV, born Nicholas Breakspear — the only English pope — who adopted the bee as his symbol, a motif later revived in the Brakspear brand.

After brewing ceased on the site in 2002, the brewery buildings were sensitively transformed into what is now Hotel du Vin Henley‑on‑Thames, preserving original brickwork, beams and industrial features. Today, guests wander through spaces once central to the craft of brewing, experiencing a unique blend of historic character and contemporary comfort at the heart of this riverside town.
