If you’re looking for things to do in Wimbledon, there’s a lot more on offer than just the annual tennis tournament. This part of England is a great place to explore when staying at Hotel du Vin Wimbledon.

WIMBLEDON VILLAGE

One of the best things to do in Wimbledon is to visit The Village. Just a 15-minute walk or a short shuttle ride from Cannizaro House, a wealth of boutique shops and cafés await you here, set amongst the handsome period buildings this area is famous for. Put this on your list if you’re looking for an easy and enjoyable shopping experience.

LONDON

A quick tube ride away and one of the most fun things to do near Wimbledon is to see the wealth of sights The Big Smoke has to offer. It’s ideally located for a day trip to take in the history and classic tourist attractions of the capital, including The Tower of London and Buckingham Palace. Or you could opt for a day's shopping in iconic department stores like Fortnum and Mason Harrods, Harvey Nichols, John Lewis & Partners, and Selfridges.

TENNIS

Arguably the most popular thing to do in Wimbledon is to visit The All England Club which hosts the world’s oldest tennis tournament. The tournament takes place over two weeks in late June and early July, culminating with the Ladies' and Gentlemen's Singles Final. Plan your stay at the Hotel du Vin Wimbledon around these dates and take in a game if you’re a fan.

WIMBLEDON AND PUTNEY COMMONS

This 1 100-acre green space is perfect for a picnic and/or a stroll. Once known as Caesar’s Camp due to its Roman past, exploring the Commons is a great option when you’re wondering what to do in Wimbledon. Regular guided walking tours are an option, and you can cycle here, or make your way across 16 miles of horse-riding trails. There’s even a first-rate public golf course if you fancy a round or two.

THE WIMBLEDON WINDMILL MUSEUM

Easily one of the top things to do in Wimbledon, the Windmill Museum was built in 1817 and remained in operation until the 1860s. After being properly restored, the now-museum opened its doors to the public in 1976. Check out the milling displays that feature realistic working models, the types of tools that were once in everyday use, and even some original machinery. And before you return to the splendour of your room at the Hotel du Vin Wimbledon, be sure and stop for a cuppa at the Windmill Tearooms.

SOUTHSIDE HOUSE

Taking a tour of the historic Southside House that was originally built in 1687 has to feature on your list of What to Do in Wimbledon. This gorgeous Dutch Baroque-style building is now a museum with many incredible artefacts on display. Anne Boleyn’s dressing case is a highlight.

THE WAT BUDDHAPADIPA TEMPLE

An unusual Wimbledon thing to do is pay a visit to an authentic Buddhist monastery. Set on four acres of land, the Wat Buddhapadipa Temple and its Thai inspiration is the first of its kind to ever be built in Britain. Needless to say, it’s one of the top tourist attractions in this delightful area.
